Nkatera Website
Recovery Sprint Report

A full account of what was identified as problematic, what has been removed, what has been preserved, what has been rebuilt, and what Nkatera must still provide before the website can launch.

Prepared for: Nkatera African Safaris · 9 September 2026

01 — What Was Wrong

Problems identified.

The following issues were found in the previous build — content and design decisions that were not based on the client brief, client-provided materials, or approved information.

🔴

Unapproved and Invented Content

Safari packages, journal articles, destination descriptions, guest reviews, and blog content were generated or copied without client approval. This created a significant brand risk — the website represented a business identity that Nkatera had not agreed to.
🔴

Wrong Image Strategy

Stock images, random uploaded photos, and images from previous projects were used across all pages. Many images did not match their context (e.g., wrong destinations, wrong wildlife). This damaged credibility and visual integrity.
🔴

Navigation Exposed Internal Language

The footer and nav referenced portal-only terms like "Client Portal," "Admin," and internal system links visible to public visitors. The four-area separation (Public · Tourist Inquiry · Client Portal · Admin) was not enforced.
🔴

Design Did Not Follow the Client Design System

The navigation was a full-width fixed bar, not the floating rounded white capsule specified in the design system. Multiple dark section treatments conflicted with the clean, light, desert editorial direction. Some sections felt generic rather than editorially premium.
🔴

Products Not Matching the Brief

The safari products shown were invented categories (Luxury, Mid-Range, Fly-In) that do not reflect the 10 approved Nkatera products: Migration, Calving, Kilimanjaro, Cultural, Bird Watching, Zanzibar, Honeymoon, Family, Balloon, and Ngorongoro Day Trips.
02 — What Was Removed

Removed from the platform.

The following have been deleted or replaced. None of the items below were based on Nkatera-approved material.

All randomly generated journal articles and blog content not written or approved by Nkatera

Fictional safari package data not based on client-provided itineraries

Invented review/testimonial content — all reviews now marked as placeholder

Random destination descriptions copied from generic safari websites

Fictitious pricing data not confirmed by Nkatera

Unapproved image assets including AI-generated images and stock photos

ReviewsSection and BlogPreview components containing generated content

SafariConciergeChat chatbot script containing unapproved conversational flows

Unapproved category pages (luxury-safaris, mid-range-safaris, fly-in-safaris) with invented content

03 — What Was Preserved

Preserved intact.

The following were identified as legitimate client data or operational infrastructure and have been kept fully intact.

Client discovery question responses — DiscoveryQuestions entity and portal page

Company profile responses — CompanyProfile entity and portal page

Meeting notes and agendas — MeetingNotes entity and portal page

Contract and project agreement — Contracts entity and portal page

Invoice and payment records — Invoices entity and portal page

Project timeline / phases — Phases entity and portal page

Client-provided itinerary data — ItineraryDay entity and SafariItinerary portal page

Admin operational dashboard — inquiry CRM, client management, analytics

All portal authentication — PortalGate login system intact

All backend notification functions — email, WhatsApp, reminders

Change request system — client can request itinerary modifications

Document library — file submissions and document management

04 — What Has Been Rebuilt

Rebuilt from the brief.

The following were built or rebuilt using the Nkatera Editorial Safari System design JSON and the approved product and destination brief.

🔧

Floating Capsule Navigation

Replaced full-width dark nav with a floating white rounded capsule per the design system. Logo left, links centre, CTA right, hamburger for overlay menu.
🔧

Home Page — Editorial System

Complete rebuild using the Nkatera Editorial Safari System JSON. Hero with inline planning card, brand statement, trust metrics, experiences grid, destinations, why Nkatera, reviews placeholder, and cinematic CTA.
🔧

Safaris Page — Approved Products Only

Rebuilt with the 10 approved safari products only: Migration, Calving, Kilimanjaro, Cultural, Bird Watching, Zanzibar, Honeymoon, Family, Balloon, and Ngorongoro Day Trip.
🔧

Image Placeholder System

All image blocks now display "Nkatera-approved image required" with a warm desert placeholder. No stock images, no AI images, no random uploads.
🔧

Footer — Updated Links

Footer now references only approved safari products and destinations. Removed invented category pages. Client Portal link moved to the bottom bar.
🔧

Platform Separation

Four clear areas: Public Website (/home, /safaris, /destinations, /migrations, /zanzibar, /kilimanjaro, /about, /plan), Inquiry Portal (/begin), Client Portal (authenticated), Admin Panel (admin-only).
🔧

Overlay Menu — Cleaned

Overlay menu now shows only the 7 approved public navigation items. All invented categories removed.
05 — What Nkatera Must Still Provide

Outstanding requirements.

The website cannot launch without these items. Urgent items are marked in red.

Professional photography

Urgent — Required for Launch

This is the single most important outstanding item. Every image block on the website is currently a placeholder. Without real photography, the website cannot launch. Nkatera needs a minimum of 80–120 high-quality original images across wildlife, landscapes, guides, vehicles, lodges, and cultural encounters.

Real guest reviews / testimonials

Urgent — Required for Launch

All review cards are placeholders. Nkatera must provide 6–10 real guest reviews before the testimonials section can go live. TripAdvisor reviews, WhatsApp feedback, or email testimonials are all acceptable sources.

Kilimanjaro route content

Kilimanjaro page currently has structural placeholders. Nkatera must provide approved content for each of the 6 routes: Machame, Lemosho, Rongai, Marangu, Umbwe, and Northern Circuit.

Destination page content

Individual destination pages for all 19 approved destinations need short approved descriptions, best-time-to-visit notes, and original photography.

About page content & team photos

The About page needs Nkatera's approved company story, guide profiles, and team photographs.

Approved pricing guidance

Safari pages currently show "Enquire for pricing." If Nkatera wants to show starting-price ranges, these must be confirmed and approved before publishing.

Journal articles

All previous journal content was removed as it was AI-generated. Any journal articles must be written or explicitly approved by Nkatera before re-publishing.

Contact details confirmation

Confirm: info@nkateraafricansafaris.com and +255 786 422 224 are correct and active before launch.

Photography is the single most important outstanding item

Every image block across the entire public website is currently a warm placeholder reading "Nkatera-approved image required." The architecture, the design system, and the structure are all complete. But until Nkatera provides original, high-quality photography — a minimum of 80–120 images across wildlife, landscapes, guides, vehicles, cultural encounters, and lodges — the website cannot be launched to the public. No stock images, no AI images, and no random uploads should be used. This single action will transform the platform from a structure into a world-class safari website.
